Founded in the 16th century by the Portuguese, Galle reached the height of its development in the 18th century, before the arrival of the British. When to Go:

Turtle Hatacheries

There are few turtle rescue centers and hatcheries around Galle. Five turtle species , Leatherback, Loggerhead, Green and Olive Ridley lives around the Sri Lankan coastal lines.
